OpenMV Cam H7 SMT Work Complete!
about 5 years ago – Sun, Jan 27, 2019 at 01:43:51 AM

Hi Folks,

Eton Tech (our contract manufacturer) has informed me that production of all surface mount parts for all OpenMV Cam H7 sensors and modules is now complete. Eton Tech is now in the process of testing all cameras and sensors. Once they complete this they will start to package them up ready for shipment. We expect to start shipping in March as per our original timeline.

The above said, the Chinese New Year is beginning so there will be a work stoppage for a few weeks. We don't expect the celebrations to impact the original schedule however.

Locking orders and Charging Cards on BackerKit
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jan 02, 2019 at 11:03:26 PM

Hi folks,

I'm going to lock whatever addons/pre-orders have been placed on the addons/pre-order store and charge credit-cards/PayPal over the weekend. If you bought addons or are a pre-order backer and want to modify your order to add more stuff please do so now.

Any addons/pre-orders coming in after I do this will be treated as a new separate order and will incur additional shipping. While it's possible to merge new orders into older orders this is very manual and not doable for hundreds of backers.

Finally, the current pledge amount on our addons/pre-order store was used in OpenMV's financial forecast for completing the OpenMV Cam H7 Kickstarter and continuing to operate over next year. So, we'd appreciate if folks only stick with or increase their current addons/pre-order pledges. :)

Anyway, thanks for reading!

OpenMV Cam H7 production ready-to-go!
over 5 years ago – Sat, Dec 29, 2018 at 01:00:15 AM

Hi folks!

Great news, we got our 20 OpenMV Cam H7 Samples back, tested them, and have approved production of 2.5K more units. All 20 units worked without issue!

If you are interested in buying one of these pre-production samples please email us and we'll send you details on how to buy one. I've got a whole bag of these things laying around my house otherwise that will sit unused.

Full production of all 2.5K Kickstarter units will start once we get the STM32H743VIT6 chips in January. All other parts have been ordered and/or have already arrived at our manufacturer.

Moving on...

General OpenMV Updates

I recently posted a massive blog post update about things going on in the OpenMV Cam Community here:

https://openmv.io/blogs/news/openmv-ide-2-1-0-and-firmware-3-2-0-released

Things of note:

  • One of our users wrote a LabView plugin for the OpenMV Cam that is now being distributed with OpenMV IDE.
  • MLX90640 and AMG8833 Thermal sensor support is now finally released.
  • ... and we've got a SPI->NTSC/PAL->Wireless shield coming out soon! (below)

Check it out!

Happy New Year everyone! Thanks,

Hi folks,

10% of you all have not completed your BackerKit survey. If you have not received your survey please check your junk email folder. BackerKit sends the survey out basically every day until you complete it.

If you cannot find the survey link email us at [email protected] and we'll send you the survey link.

Thanks!

Samples Coming Back - Everything works! Production going to start soon!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 05, 2018 at 09:21:11 PM

Hi all,

We'll be getting the production samples back in a week or so. The base board, OV7725 sensor, and MT9V034 sensor have all passed QC without any issues. We just have to test the lepton adapter in house. Once we know that works we can approve building the rest of the units.

We've already paid for the full production run and EtonTech has already purchased the parts. So, we'll just be waiting on the chips. That said, some good news about the lead-time. Arrow has confirmed to us that the 10K STM32 chips will arrive in January allowing EtonTech to start production before the Chinese new year!
